Golden Era Productions is the center for all audiovisual productions for the Scientology religion, responsible for producing, translating and making all of L. Ron Hubbard’s films, recorded lectures and printed scripture known and available to 11,000 Churches, missions and affiliated groups in 165 countries.
The Art Department designs the sets, props, locations, costumes and visual effects for all audiovisual production—totaling over 140 film and video properties in 2009 alone.
The Sets Construction shop at Golden Era Productions utilizes digitally encoded modeling machinery to create detailed stage elements for all broadcast events, in addition to a total of 250,000 square feet of sets.
Equipped to service multiple productions in 3 sound stages, the Make-Up Department creates cosmetic applications for every type of shoot, including historical, special effects and prosthetics.
7,500 actors cast this past year in film productions at Golden Era Productions were outfitted by the Wardrobe Department, many with tailor-made costumes, specially designed and handmade.
At 20,000 square feet, the free-span sound stage at the Golden Era Productions film studio is one of the largest in North America. Rising 3 stories, it contains one of the largest cyclorama walls in the US and an 8,000-square-foot grid system.
Since 2005, Golden Era Productions has produced 1,626 films about the Scientology religion and its social betterment programs, furthering the international dissemination of the results of L. Ron Hubbard’s work.
The film lab at Golden Era Productions houses technically advanced methods for restoring filmed lectures of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. In 2006, a 70-person team saw to the landmark restoration and preservation of the only filmed lecture series by Mr. Hubbard.

Every stage of film processing is done in-house on customized machinery maintained at aerospace clean room standards.
The Golden Era Productions Post Production facility receives and handles an average of 130 hours of footage per week from shoot crews on the property and from over 200 countries around the world.
In Golden Era Productions’ editing facilities, 83 international broadcast events totaling over 1,700 hours have been produced since 2005.
The editing suites at Golden Era Productions produce all of L. Ron Hubbard’s instructional films, as well as educational films, documentaries and public service announcements based on his works, at high-definition broadcast quality for distribution in 17 languages.
The design of the L. Ron Hubbard Music Studio simulates a concert hall, complete with audience, an atmosphere that inspires the finest creativity and performance by artists.

The Golden Era Production audio facilities uses cutting-edge digital equipment to design and engineer all film soundtracks for release and playback in stereo as well as 5.1 cinema surround sound.
The Lecture Production Department at Golden Era Productions utilizes customized equipment and innovative audio technology to accomplish the recovery and digital restoration of L. Ron Hubbard’s recorded lectures so they are accessible to all.
In 2009, Golden Era Productions completed a 25-year program to recover, verify and restore the Scripture of the Scientology religion, inclusive of all L. Ron Hubbard’s recorded lectures, over 2,500 lectures in total.
Golden Era Productions’ sophisticated restoration software and equipment is specifically customized to restore the full library of L. Ron Hubbard’s spoken word, comprising the recorded legacy of his 50 years of research and discovery.
The Audio Recording and Mixing facilities reproduce the films, documentaries and public service announcements based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard in up to 50 non-English languages for international distribution and broadcast.
Golden Era’s translation unit oversees L. Ron Hubbard’s library of recorded lectures and other Scriptural material, recording, mixing and mastering in 16 non-English languages.
The complete archive of L. Ron Hubbard’s recordings, consisting of 2,500 individual lectures, has been restored to full tonality and clarity making them accessible to all.
Golden Era Productions provides the informational films, public service announcements and educational material for the Church-sponsored humanitarian programs to combat drug abuse, human rights violations and moral decay globally.
The staff at Golden Era Productions are all members of the Church’s fraternal order, the Sea Organization, and take part in religious studies and vocational training at the in-house college.
Golden Era Productions staff avail themselves of Scientology spiritual counseling called “auditing”—codified procedures that enable a person to improve his life, by placing him in better control of himself and his mind.
Scientology spiritual counseling as well as religious studies of Scripture are available for the Sea Organization members who staff Golden Era Productions.
Accommodations at Golden Era Productions are located on the southern grounds of the property and were designed to comfortably house the full complement of in-house staff.
As is traditional for a religious community, Golden Era Productions houses its entire staff on the property, providing living quarters, full service meals, a college for religious studies and vocational training and facilities for extracurricular activities.
The staff of Golden Era Productions is provided with living quarters, all comfortably appointed and in close proximity to production areas of the campus.
Available for special occasions such as staff weddings, events or weekend activities, Golden Era’s “Star of California” is a local landmark. Modeled after an 1820’s Clipper ship, it also holds a Polynesian garden, an Olympic-sized pool, Jacuzzi and a bird sanctuary.
